I care about communication, creativity, and making work more sane and satisfying. I help people find sustainable ways of producing genuinely worthwhile content for their websites.

Mapped made pretty (and more useful)

Randall and I have been working pretty hard at a new design for our blog, Mapped – it’s not perfectly perfect yet, but we’re getting there. As a nice aside, I’m getting to learn a lot more about working with WordPress, editing templates and doing some CSS jiggery-pokery. It’s been fun.

One thing we’ve thought a lot about are the kinds of topics we like to talk about and how to surface articles for those topics in simple and seamless ways. Nothing too groundbreaking there, but we hope it’s easier for people to find their way to older stories as we write more (and more and more, as is the plan this year). All in a much nicer, cleaner interface.

I later wrote about it on Mapped – you can check out the slides and the full post and comments here.

Mapped: Content strategy & storytelling

So, my friend and colleague Randall Snare and I decided to start a blog. We’re calling it Mapped, and it’s now live. It’s a labour of love (and sometimes hate, i.e. the hate that inspires some posts) for us and we’re happy to have our own space to talk about the topics we have a shared interest in – content strategy, storytelling, psychology and all the threads tying those things together.
